Last night, Dublin’s very own Glen Hansard took to the stage of the Iveagh Gardens for a night of timeless classics, rocking melodies, and head-bopping singalongs.

Support for the ‘Once’ star, an accolade that still follows Hansard despite the film being almost being 20 years old, came from Josh O’Keefe.

The singer, who hails from Derby but currently resides in Nashville, took to the stage at 7:30 with his guitar, a harmonica, and a voice that would have those listening from outside wondering whether Bob Dylan had been hiding inside the garden walls.

A really enjoyable set.

Shortly after 8:20, following a surprise on stage introduction by Irish author Manchán Magan, out walked Hansard and band.

The performance of over two hours saw Hansard picking through his catalogue of hits. From fan favourite Falling Slowly, This Gift, and Revelate, to newer songs from last year’s album “All That Was East if West of Me Now”, with covers thrown in from The Pogues and the show closing with The Auld Triangle – it really was a night for fans of Glen whether they’ve joined the fanbase in recent weeks or from years ago.
