Disclaimer: I am a big fan of Warpaint and their album ‘Radiate Like This’ was one of my albums of 2022. So I am very excited to be at their show at the OAF tonight.

Warpaint formed in Los Angeles in 2004 and is made up of Emily Kokal (vocals, guitar), Theresa Wayman (vocals, guitar), Jenny Lee Lindberg (bass, vocals), and Stella Mozgawa (drums), the band is known for their ethereal soundscapes, intricate rhythms, and harmonious vocals. Mozgawa most recently collaborated with Courtney Barnett on her albums, ‘Things Take Time, Take Time’ and ‘End of the Day’ (Music from the film Anonymous Club.) We are told during the show that Mozgawa took her first breaths in Darlinghurst, where the Oxford Art Factory is situated.

From the moment that the band launches into their first song, the audience is held in rapt attention. Each note seems to float through the air, intertwining seamlessly with the next, forming waves of sound that wash over the crowd who sway in unison. All in all this is an unforgettable performance that solidifies Warpaint’s place as musical luminaries (support act Body Type earlier name checked them as being hugely influential in the formation of that band,) but also underscores the unwavering devotion and love their Australian fans have for them.

Check out the gallery below.
