It’s midnight at the Metro Theatre and the crowd is pulsating with energy and anticipation. Amyl and the Sniffers will be performing their last concert in Sydney prior to heading overseas. A DJ is doing a set that includes ‘Am I Ever Going to See Your Face Again?‘ by the Angels the crowd enthusiastically responds with the classic “No Way, Get Fucked, Fuck Off”

The excitement reaches fever pitch when the DJ’s turntable is wheeled away and Amy Taylor saunters on stage. Known for her risqué ensembles, tonight she is wearing a conservative white shirt over black leggings. Behind me the crowd is going ballistic and suddenly it feels like it’s raining as the audience starts spraying the stage with their drinks. I am thankful that it’s 2022 and not 1976 when spitting at bands was the way that fans showed their love and devotion.

The band rips into their setlist and Amy Taylor is like a Duracell bunny on amphetamines. She clambers onto a speaker stack and it’s only the second song! It isn’t long before she removes her white top to reveal a black, lace-up bustierre à la Cherie Curry of the Runaways.

Amyl and the Sniffers are an unstoppable force, and Amy Taylor is their dynamic linchpin. She clearly loves performing live and her energy and enthusiasm are infectious.

Amyl and the Sniffers will now leave Australia to embark on a world tour that will include performances at Coachella and Knebworth.

International audiences are in for a treat as Amyl and the Sniffers are one of the most exciting live acts on the planet at the moment.
