In the heart of Sydney/Eora, the Metro Theatre pulsed with anticipation as hundreds of eager fans gathered for Overmono’s sold-out show, setting the stage for an unforgettable night of electronic music mastery. The London-based electronic maestros, brothers Tom and Ed Russell, brought their talents to Sydney as part of the Overmono World Tour Pt.2. At the forefront of their electronic dance music is a cult-following-inducing, infectious sound rooted in ’90s rave, trance, and breakbeat influences.

The evening immediately kicked off with high energy, courtesy of supporting acts AHJU and Madami, setting the tone for a night of sonic exploration. The crowd, a sea of enthusiastic fans, echoed every beat in unison, creating a living, breathing entity that seemed to respond to the whims of Tom and Ed, the dynamic duo behind Overmono.

Diving into their extensive repertoire, the brothers, encircled by a myriad of wires, keys, and boards, breathed life into tracks from their 2023 debut album, ‘Good Lies,’ a release that soared to #11 in the UK charts. The crowd revelled in the pulsating rhythms, moving as one in response to the duo’s masterful orchestration. The latest hit single, ‘Blow Out’, was a highlight, offering a taste of the sonic journey Overmono has crafted for their fans.

Beyond the music, the visuals, a trademark of Overmono’s live shows, took the experience to another dimension. Featuring the iconic Dobermans, the dynamic displays danced seamlessly with the beats, transforming the venue into a kaleidoscope of hues synchronized with the music’s ebb and flow. From pulsating gradients to intricate patterns, the visuals heightened the emotional peaks and troughs of the music, casting the crowd into a hypnotic trance.

As part of their world tour, Overmono recently played at renowned festivals like Lost Paradise, Rhythm & Vines Festival, Beyond The Valley, and Sun Cycle Festival – all in less than two weeks. This whirlwind journey through Australia and New Zealand underscores their commitment to bringing their genre-defying sounds to global audiences.
