Brother duo Hudson Taylor played the 3Olympia this Saturday the 4th of June with support from Katie Phelan and Halli.

First up for support was Dublin based artist Katie Phelan whose unique voice gave a wonderful start to the evening. Katie played a handful of songs with highlights including ‘Board Games’, her latest single’Duvet Day’ and  ‘For Good’. Katie was supported by a full band who lifted the songs from acoustic tracks to fully fledged songs. It was a great performance from Katie who noted it was ‘mad’ to be playing the 3Olympia!

Next up was Harry and Alfie’s sister Halli Hudson Taylor (Aka Halli). Halli’s voice is totally unique in a completely different way to Katie’s. Her unique tone transported the crowd to a different world for 30 minutes. She played both released and unreleased songs including the track ‘Body Never Lies’ which was a lovely groovy track about self love. Halli’s band provided great bass lines, drums and keys while Halli played guitar for several songs during the set.

Hudson Taylor are currently on an Irish tour promoting their 3rd studio album ‘Searching for the Answers’, which meant they got to play a lot of new songs in front of their home crowd for the first time in over 2 years. This was evident from the reactions of Harry and Alfie immediately when they took the stage. The show started strong with two older songs ‘Care’ and ‘Run With Me’ which got the crowd excited from the word go.

Alfie then took a quick break to address the crowd and introduce his favourite song from their second album aptly named ‘Favourite Song’ which was a superbly groovy song which got the crowd dancing. This was followed by several more songs including ‘Hold Out Hope’, ‘What do you Mean?’ and ‘World Without You’.

The brothers then reintroduced their sister Halli to sing on the title track of their new album ‘Searching for the Answers ‘ and ‘Old Soul’. Her voice complemented Harry and Alfie’s voices beautifully, you could really tell they have been singing together for many years.

Gabrielle Aplin then joined the brothers on stage to perform their single ‘Honest’ which was a beautiful moment in the set with Gabrielle‘s voice shone through beautifully. The band then played some older songs including ‘Chasing Rubies’, ‘Butterflies’ and ‘Battles’, which the crowd sang back every word and danced their cares away.

After a quick break the band returned to stage with Alfie noting that this ‘might be my favourite gig ever’ before correcting himself saying ‘this is my favourite gig ever’. The band then introduced Danny O’Reilly from The Coronas to sing ‘ I Don’t Know Why’ which was another great moment. The night finished with three more songs ‘You Me Myself’, ‘Feel It Again’, and ‘Over My Head’.

Overall it was a fantastic night of wonderful music which showcased some great Irish talent. The Hudson Taylor brother’s performed great from start to finish and you could certainly see how much fun they were having. I cannot wait to catch them again soon!
