I was pretty happy to get the opportunity to shoot and review this show being one of only two external photographers allowed a photo pass on the night.

Radio X were the hosts for this sold out event which was also filmed for a streaming special on Global Player, to be aired on 5th December at 7pm. Kasabian announced that they were only doing a one hour set no support and a curfew of 9.30pm.

With TV cameras in situ the photo pit was out of bounds, so I had to shoot from the balcony, that said it was an excellent vantage point, albeit I could have done with a longer lens.

There was some early excitement as it was announced by Radio X that one lucky ticket holder would win £1000. The number was drawn at random before the band started, someone’s night was definitely made.

Onto the show, opening up with ‘Rocket Fuel’, frontman Sergio Pizzorno burst onto the stage and the crowd immediately went crazy I guess knowing they had limited time to enjoy.

Taking us through a high energy set of songs across five albums, inevitably full of hits, including tracks from latest album The Alchemist’s Euphoria. Mosh pits and general euphoria from the crowd made for an electric atmosphere and the time seemed to fly by.

Closing with 140 million streamed “Fire’ the crowds chanting, encouraged by Sergio, could probably be heard many miles away.

Thanks to the Radio X crew who efficiently sorted out photo passes after an initial mix up.

A special night for the fans, definitely one to reminisce about in an ‘I was there’ future look back moment.

Check out the Global Player stream to get the full effect.
