The Foundry in Sheffield was taught with anticipation as a packed crowd gathered to witness The Magic Numbers deliver an unforgettable performance, certainly for this first timer. The scene was set with an emotive set by singer-songwriter Rhiannon Scott, whose heartfelt melodies and poignant lyrics captivated the audience, setting a perfect tone for the night.

As the lights dimmed, The Magic Numbers took the stage to a raucous welcome, launching into their hit ‘Forever Lost’ much to the crowd’s delight. The band was in exceptional form, with frontman Romeo Stodart’s engaging and witty between song banter enhancing the intimate atmosphere. Michele Stodart’s basslines were impeccably tight, providing a solid foundation for the band’s harmonious sound. The seamless harmonies between Michele and Angela Gannon were as enchanting as ever, enveloping the venue in their signature melodic warmth.

The band, whol rolled into town with a show celebrating 20th years since their formation, brought a setlist that was a well-curated journey through their discography, featuring fan favorites like ‘I See You, You See Me’, ‘Love Me Like You,Do’ and culminating in an encore with the uplifting ‘Mornings Eleven’. A standout moment was Michele stepping into the spotlight to perform a couple of songs from her acclaimed solo album, ‘Invitation’, released in September 2023.

For those who have yet to experience The Magic Numbers live, you’re missing out on a truly inviting musical journey. Their concerts are a masterclass in musicianship, harmony, and connection, melting hearts with their joyous brand of indie pop. Here’s to another 20 years.
