Formed by members of legendary hardcore / thrash outfits Above All, Romeo Must Die and Dishonour The Crown, Fates Messenger have drawn from all of their collective experiences within the UK metal / hardcore scenes and have produced a fresh slab of metal savagery.

Give us a potted history of the band

Fates Messenger formed November 23 so only been going 4 months. Tony (vocals) and Will (drums)
were looking for something to do after Above All stalled. Will tapped me up (Ron – Guitars) knowing I already had some material written and finished off the lineup with Paul (bass). I sent the demo stems to the band, everyone wrote their parts and recorded them then sent it back for post production with the addition of the synths and samples then Mix/Master. There are 7 songs ready to release with another 2 demo’d waiting to get finalised.

Doing it all within the band means we’re not fixed to timelines or pressure, we can write, record, and release as and when we want. Next steps is get the music out a couple of tracks at a time then start hitting the shows. Getting the band up and running with all the social media posts (Wills creative work) and the music recorded in 4 month is a pretty good accomplishment.

Who inspired you to start making music

For me it was Guns n Roses and Maiden, they were the first proper bands I listened to which sparked the love of wanting to play. Music tastes have varied over the years but my all time inspirations would be Pantera, Vision of Disorder, Madball, Machine Head to name a few, but they all add up to the creative backbone to wanting to make music.

And the one or maybe two records that inspired you artistically

Vision of Disorders self titled album with the green blob on the cover, the whole album just blew me
away the first time i’d heard that style and Pantera Far Beyond Driven, well all of their albums in honesty but that is one hell of an album.

If you’re trying to explain who you sound like to someone who’s never heard you, what do you say

A modern metallic thrash hardcore but we have elements of various genres.

Tell us about your new singles

Both Scars and Bonechapel are pretty brutal but hooky, taking elements of metal/hardcore with Fear
Factory esq synths. Scars is about the time we live in now with the affects of online bullying and the scars it leaves behind, Bonechapel is how corrupt religion is and how so many wars have happened for it. All
recorded and mixed in house with self release, going for the DIY vibe. All recorded using Logic Pro X, Vocals tracked with a Shure SM7B, Guitars are a blend of Peavy 5150/Mesa Dual rec, Bass run through Nueral DSP Parallax and Acoustic Drums blended with some samples just to give them a bit more punch. Its far from pro but we wanted to get the tracks recorded and out the quickest way possible, let the live show do the talking.

Where can we get hold of it

All the normal streaming sites and for sale on Bandcamp. We’re not pressing physical copies for now
unless there is a call for it down the line.

Tell us how you write

For now i’ve written the tune, Tony writes the lyrics and vocal patterns which will then mean the song
gets refined if needed, Will then tracks the drums but he’ll add ideas in to change a pattern or the style of
something, Paul finishes up with the bass and then it gets the final touches.

Tell us about your live show What would be your dream gig

Can’t comment on our live show yet but if our first studio sessions anything to go by then there will
be a lot of hurting necks. Dream gig…..European festival, best of everything, play in front of a lot of people but alongside some amazing bands.

What can we expect from you in the near future

We’ll just keep releasing the tracks we have, smash a load of shows then write some more so keep
your eyes and ears on our socials.

Tell us your favourite records that are rocking your headphones/tour bus /stereo

Sylosis – A Sign of Things to Come
Malevolence – Malicious Intent
Thrown – Any of their tracks
Pantera – All albums
Vision of Disorder – All albums
The list is endless but these are regulars.
