Track: Blaenavon – Destiny’s Mild, plus UK tour dates

Taken from their forthcoming Miss World EP, out on Transgressive on October 30th, comes a new track Destiny’s Mild from south coast trio Blaenavon. Having recently announced support shows with the likes of The Districts, Songhoy Blues and Palace, the band still have youth on their side with an average age of 19, and recording their David Pye (Wild Beasts, Egyptian Hip Hop) produced EP during their school half term holidays.

Destiny’s Mild is immediately engaging indie rock, but its more than that, with huge swathes of guitar noise thrown in for good measure as the band straddle straight up melodic pop music and dress it in ill fitting clothes and long hair. Throw in the ebbs and flows, the hint of a false ending and some melodic bass playing, and there’s not many (if any) boxes that need ticking to make that a favourite here at Backseat Mafia towers (aka, my front room).
