London five piece Club Kuru have been rocking the changes recently with a new line up and a shift in direction. Initially signalled by Radio 1 and 6Music approved single ‘Not for me’, they’ve followed it up with another single, Tonight, which is out on your usual download stores tomorrow (Friday).
There’s something of the Unknown Mortal Orchestra about the track (and indeed the band) but Tonight focuses more on the psychedelic side of things, rather than the funk. What transpires is engaging indie psych, with winding guitars and shimmers, well, pretty much everywhere. Throw in these floating vocals that nail classic melodic songwriting to their mast.
