Norwegian producer Maye is a man on the up. The Oslo producer, apparently named Leif Inge Berdychowski Fosen, started out as a singer releasing an EP along the way when he was only 20 years old. Since then though, he’s developed into the nu-disco producer of choice for an increasingly discerning amount of artists.
He’s been given exclusive access to fellow Norwegian Maya Viks track Totally Right to do as he pleases with the song. The results appear on Vik’s new single release. Maye pulls it to pieces and rebuilds it with his analog synths, old fashioned drum machines and Viks funky vocal. It’s warm and the bassline is impossibly funky, as it moves through the 80s groove with some assurance. If this isn’t the funkiest production of the year, I don’t know what is.
