London & Essex-based alternative rock sensation Sovereigns announce their upcoming EP, ‘Paranormal Activity,’ and share the video for the new single ‘Ghost.’
Having garnered attention from the likes of BBC Introducing and Radio X , Sovereigns have carved out a niche for themselves with their dynamic blend of indie-rock and pop-punk. Renowned for their high-energy live performances, the quartet has built a loyal following.
‘Ghost,’ the lead single from their upcoming EP, encapsulates Sovereigns’ signature sound, weaving together catchy hooks with a gradually intensifying guitar-driven backdrop. From its subdued beginnings to its explosive chorus, the track navigates themes of nostalgia and fading relationships with both poignancy and purpose.
Discussing the inspiration behind ‘Ghost,’ the band shares, “It’s not about cliché horror movie scenes but rather about the bittersweet experience of watching someone you once knew transform before your eyes. Relationships evolve, and sometimes we find ourselves longing for what once was.”
Formed in 2021, Sovereigns have quickly risen through the ranks of the independent music scene, drawing inspiration from iconic acts such as Blink 182, The Libertines, and Sonic Youth. Despite their relative youth as a band, Sovereigns have cemented their reputation as one of the hardest-working acts on the circuit, averaging an impressive 11 shows per month.
As anticipation builds for the EP’s release, Sovereigns continue to grow as a band, making their best music to date and upping the stakes with each new release.
