From next year, two of the powerhouses of folk are joining forces, Newport and Cambridge folk festivals will be a partnership to bring folk music across the Atlantic. Further details will be revealed in the run up to next year, but it’s certainly an intriguing move. Hopefully it will lead to a number of artists getting access to a whole new audience, and having a number of new artists able to play the UK (or the USA) for the first time.
And if that wasn’t enough, Cambridge have also announced that Carolina Chocolate Drop and star of Nashville, Rhiannon Giddens will be guest curator. Let’s hope that also means a live appearance.
Rumours that Phil Collins will fly between the two in order to headline both remain unconfirmed.
