The Velvet Underground was always one of those bands that might have had less than spectacular commercial success, but probably directly influenced the favourite bands of anyone with respectable music taste. And when those bands get together to celebrate Velvet Underground, Lou Reed and Nico, you know you’re in for a very special evening.

It just been announced that Robert Forster (The Go-Betweens), Mick Harvey (The Bad Seeds, The Birthday Party), Dave Graney (Dave Graney and the Coral Snakes), Rob Snarski (The Blackeyed Susans, The Triffids) and Stefanie Duzel will all be performing a special evening celebrating the astounding music of Velvet Underground. And furthermore they will be backed by a stunning assemblage of seasoned antipodean legends consisting of Robbie Warren (Died Pretty), Barton Price (Models, The Winged Heels), Roger Mason (Models), Paul McDonald (Glide, the Gin Palace, Steve Kilbey) and Mark Tobin (Caligula, the Gin Palace, Steve Kilbey). Tempered of course by my favourite quote from Reed himself that any song with more than three chords is jazz.

All eras of Lou Reed will be celebrated including everything from ‘I’m Waiting For The Man’ to ‘Perfect Day’, from ‘Venus In Furs’ to ‘Satellite of Love’, from ‘Sweet Jane’ to ‘Vicious’, from ‘Pale Blue Eyes’ to ‘Walk On The Wild Side’, from ‘Femme Fatale’ to ‘Coney Island Baby’ and much more. This will be an incredible opportunity to see legends perform legends.
