News: Fraser Morgan Releases Defiant New EP ‘Songs About Girls’

Fraser Morgan, the electrifying alt-folk artist known for his whirlwind live shows and heartfelt lyrics, has just dropped his eagerly awaited new EP, Songs About Girls. Currently on a sprawling 35+ date UK adventure that will see him perform everywhere from grassroots venues to major festivals like Boomtown and Leestock, the new EP highlights Morgan’s talent as a songwriter and a performer.

Blending pop stylings with Celtic-folk undertones through the organic instrumentation, ‘Songs About Girls’ showcases a genre-defying sound that feels both commercially sharp and unapologetically raw. Produced alongside long-time collaborator Joel Scrimshaw at Myopia Music Rooms, the five-track release marks a bold step forward for the Essex-based troubadour.

“This EP is a real contrast to my last one,” Fraser says. “It’s playful, light-hearted, and all about navigating love in all its messy, confusing, and occasionally hilarious forms—friendship, heartbreak, unrequited love. I think a lot of people have been waiting for this one. The crowdfunder was smashed in under 24 hours, which blew my mind. It really reminded me why I do this.”

That crowdfunder, backed by over 70 loyal fans, is a testament to the growing grassroots movement behind Morgan. Over the years, he’s carved out a fierce reputation through sheer hard graft, playing more than 1,000 shows and captivating audiences with his unfiltered performances. His sound, often likened to Frank Turner, Jamie T, and Nizlopi, weaves humour and vulnerability into anthemic choruses and acoustic chaos.

The EP’s tracks are packed with mandolins, violins, cowbells, and Morgan’s unmistakable storytelling flair. Songs flicker between confessional and comic, keeping listeners on their toes with clever turns of phrase and infectious melodies. Whether it’s the wistful ache of lost love or a tongue-in-cheek take on dating disasters, Songs About Girls pulses with energy and heart.

This summer, Fraser takes that energy on the road for a landmark UK tour. His upcoming schedule reads like a festival dream: Bearded Theory, Hidden Door, Cottingham Folk Fest, Leigh Folk Festival, The Green Gathering, and of course, Boomtown. Along the way, he’ll share stages with folk-punk stalwarts Mad Dog Mcrea and Dan Donnelly of The Levellers.

Whether performing solo or fronting his band, Fraser Morgan & The Great Catastrophes, Morgan’s live shows have become legendary for their emotional highs and unpredictable humour. His setlists mix raucous singalongs with intimate reflections on mental health, always delivered with charm, honesty, and an open heart.

Already turning heads across press and UK radio, Songs About Girls is more than just a new release—it’s a coming-of-age moment for an artist ready to take centre stage.

Fraser Morgan may have built his name in the UK’s underground scene, but with this EP and tour, he’s taking things one step further.
