Rising Folk Rock artist Gabe Parsons is ready to unleash a gust of emotion and energy with his latest single, ‘Hurricane’s Back’, offering a taste of the upcoming debut album, Long Road Traveler, set for release later this year.
A swirling, guitar-driven anthem that captures the electric highs of youth, love, and the thrill of discovering both the world and oneself, ‘Hurricane’s Back’ lays the emotional foundation for the album’s journey. A sonic landscape, blending the blue-collar storytelling of Bruce Springsteen with undertones of Counting Crows and John Mayer. Bright piano layered with acoustic guitars, tasteful xylophone and a full band backing (and some brilliant guitar work for good measure), the track builds elegantly and tastefully. Topped with Parsons’ affecting lead vocals, the track builds a warming melancholic feel through intimate storytelling and a well thought out arrangement.
One of the earliest songs written for the upcoming full project, the track introduces two recurring characters whose relationship arcs through the LP like a cinematic storyline—full of fire, longing, and inevitable change.
“I wanted it to feel joyful and just a little rebellious,” says Gabe Parsons, reflecting on the song’s origins. Inspired by a magnetic live performance in New York City with his former band, the single channels the raw energy of early adulthood—city lights, second chances, and the sheer wonder of starting over somewhere new. The protagonists of the track, drawn from fabled versions of Parsons’ own New Jersey friends, are on a collision course with dreams, chasing recklessness and meaning in equal measure.
