News: Grammy–Nominated Sunnan Release Aching New Single ‘Longing To Miss You’

Sunnan release the stunning new single ‘Longing To Miss You’. The Scandinavian cinematic soul collective craft a track which feels like it would belong as well in a western as well as it would among Vampire Weekend and the likes of Khruangbin.

The single marks the second glimpse into their forthcoming sophomore album Spaghetti Soul, due in Autumn 2026. If their earlier work hinted at a band fascinated by atmosphere and storytelling, this latest release confirms it: Sunnan are building entire emotional worlds.

The origins of ‘Longing To Miss You’ are as evocative as the music itself. Written and recorded inside Fårö Church on the Swedish island closely associated with filmmaker Ingmar Bergman, the track carries a quiet sense of presence — as if shaped by the weight of stories told long before it. For Sunnan, this was more than just a recording location; it was the birthplace of the album’s entire emotional and sonic direction.

“Longing To Miss You emerged through questions of life, death, and how we all must learn to cope with the fact that loving also means losing,” the band explains. That tension — between connection and absence — sits at the heart of the song. Built on arpeggiated nylon strung guitars, swelling strings, and wide, cinematic arrangements, it frames loss not as an ending, but as something that gives love its depth and urgency.

If Sunnan’s debut album Cinema felt like a carefully composed feature film, and the Cinema Sound System EP its after-hours echo, Spaghetti Soul promises something even more immersive. The band describe it as a fusion of Italian Western grandeur and classic soul — a self-defined genre where orchestral drama meets raw emotional immediacy. It’s a bold proposition, but one that feels earned. Their music has always existed in the in-between: vintage yet modern, intimate yet vast. ‘Longing To Miss You’ acts as the album’s emotional nucleus, the spark that ignited everything that followed.

Following their their debut album Cinema which earned two Swedish Grammy nominations, and the Cinema Sound System EP expanded their reach internationally, with strong radio rotation and streaming support across Europe and North America, the band are already riding a strong momentum. On stage, more than 20 sold-out shows across the Nordics and EU in 2025 has showcased a band capable of translating their sweeping recordings into electrifying live experiences. Entering 2026 with a P3 Guld nomination, major summer festival appearances lined up, and Spaghetti Soul on the horizon, Sunnan have another big year ahead.
