Following a series of captivating teaser singles throughout 2024, Sarah Hickey takes a bold step forward with the release of her debut album, Fastener. A captivating blend of folk, indie and country undertones, the album is close, heartfelt and warming. Comparable to the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, The Staves, Bon Iver and even singer-songwriter legends like James Taylor and Joni Mitchel, the album brings a wonderful collection of tracks which are raw, beautifully warming and emotional.

A testament to her artistic growth, the album carves heartfelt tales through heartfelt toplines, intoxicating backbeats, and vivid lyricism, cementing her as a rising star in the contemporary music scene. Blending the rich traditions of folk with subtle flecks of indie and even subtle electronics at points, Fastener unfolds as a dynamic and emotive journey.

Across its eleven tracks, Hickey crafts soundscapes that feel both comfortingly familiar and refreshingly innovative. Alluring melodies weave through deep grooves, while the organic instrumentation—ethereal harmonies, delicate guitars, piano, soft drums and expressive strings, punctuates tales of understanding, resilience, and personal growth. The result is a strikingly mature debut album that highlights Hickeys understanding for interesting sound pallets and how to use musicality to compliment the melancholic style of her songwriting.

Reflecting on her creative process, Sarah shares, “Fastener is a collection of songs I wrote based on my personal experiences and stories that have inspired me. It combines elements of folk, rock, and pop, drawing inspiration from countless artists and bands I’ve loved for years. Recording this album has been so wonderful and exciting. I worked with some brilliant and lovely people and I am so grateful for their time and talent.”
