News: Jazz Legend Gregory Porter Announces Long-Awaited Return to Australia This October

Award-winning jazz singer Gregory Porter is making his long-awaited return to Australia this October for his first major tour here since 2017. Over the past 15 years, the platinum-selling vocalist has steadily built a devoted following across the US, UK, and Europe, winning over audiences with his effortless blend of jazz, soul, gospel, and blues.

Porter’s signature cap makes him instantly recognisable, but it’s his music that leaves the most lasting impression. With five acclaimed albums under his belt, including ‘Liquid Spirit’ and ‘Take Me to the Alley’, both of which won Grammy Awards, he’s known for songs that explore themes of love, faith, and personal growth. Along the way, he’s worked with artists like Robert Glasper and Lizz Wright, and even had his music remixed by electronic producers Claptone and Fred Falke.

While his recordings have earned him a global reputation, it’s on stage where Porter truly shines. His live shows are rich, warm, and full of personality, whether he’s delivering heartfelt originals like ‘Hey Laura’ and ‘Revival’ or putting his own spin on songs by Motown legends, Wayne Shorter, Sting, and even Disney. This month, he’s playing four sold-out nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall – a venue he’s been filling since 2016 – and last Christmas, he performed at Westminster Abbey for the Princess of Wales’ Together at Christmas service.

In October, Australian fans will get the chance to experience Porter’s stunning live presence in some of the country’s most iconic venues, including Naarm/Melbourne’s Hamer Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and Boorloo/Perth’s Regal Theatre. Joining him on tour are longtime bandmates Chip Crawford (piano), Emmanuel Harrold (drums), Tivon Pennicott (saxophone), and Jahmal Nichols (bass), musicians who have been part of his journey since the beginning.

MONDAY 20 OCTOBER – Sydney Opera House | Sydney, NSW (All Ages)

WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER – Queensland Performing Arts Centre | Brisbane, QLD (All Ages)

FRIDAY 24 OCTOBER – Hamer Hall | Melbourne, VIC (All Ages)
