News: Jei-Rynn Shares New Single ‘never dying young’

Jei-Rynn’s shares the new single ‘never dying young’, cuts through the noise with a raw, emotional core. The California-born artist, known for blending grunge textures with pop-punk sensibilities, delivers a coming-of-age anthem that doesn’t just romanticize youth—it lays it to rest.

Released as part of his upcoming EP, the track opens with a sugary pop vocal line before diving headfirst into distorted guitar riffs and pounding drums. It’s a sonic collision of past and present, echoing the emotional chaos of adolescence while grappling with the unavoidable transformation into adulthood. Lyrically and sonically, it’s a fitting evolution for an artist who’s always made introspection sound loud.

“‘Never dying young’ is about letting go of teenage fantasies and mourning the loss of your younger self,” Jei-Rynn explains. “I was also writing about the parts of myself that haven’t changed at all over the years; the parts of myself that are still so childish that seem core to my inner world, for better and for worse.”

That yearning Jei-Rynn mentions is palpable across the track’s runtime, carried in both the restless energy of the instrumentation and the vulnerability of his voice. Produced by Alex Newport—whose credits include Mars Volta, Bloc Party, and At the Drive-In—the song was recorded in the deserts of Yucca Valley, a setting that mirrors the emotional barrenness and beauty within the song itself.

Jei-Rynn’s journey began in Orange County, where childhood piano lessons evolved into a full-fledged obsession with songwriting. Battling anxiety and depression from a young age, he found music to be both sanctuary and outlet, eventually channeling his experience into songs that speak to identity, isolation, and emotional resilience.

His 2019 debut single screaming inside resonated within underground circles, not just for its searing vulnerability but for its timely reflection on the Asian-American experience in a volatile cultural moment. Since then, Jei-Rynn has steadily built a name for himself with a string of emotionally potent releases, collaborating with top producers and performing alongside artists like Lil Xan and Tommy Vext.
