News: Leiyah Returns With Breakup Anthem ‘NEVER LIKED YOU ANYWAY’

Following a string of critically acclaimed singles in 2023 which have seen her gained support from BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra, Leiyah shares the fierce and unapologetic breakup pop anthem, NEVER LIKED YOU ANYWAY.

NEVER LIKED YOU ANYWAY explores the emotional journey of a one-sided relationship, telling a story of liberation and empowerment over a buoyant and genre melding instrumental backdrop. Led by a bright indie infused guitar tone and atmospheric synth under Leiyah’s powerful lead vocal, the track takes an unexpected turn as a high energy, drum and bass influenced beat enters in the chorus. Blending the silky smoothness of R&B, with an irresistibly catchy pop vocal line and its multi-faceted instrumentation, the single showcases Leiyah’s genre-blending brilliance.

Reflecting on the creation of the track, Leiyah shares: “Writing this song was very fun and easy. Years of built-up animosity from dreadful situations finally gave me the courage to say what was really on my mind!”

Hailing from a family steeped in music, with her late uncle Earl Lindo of The Wailers inspiring her early songwriting, Leiyah has never shied away from pursuing her passion. After attending the prestigious BRIT School, she released her debut album in 2019, earning widespread support from BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, and Capital Xtra. Her relentless drive has also led her to collaborate with Grammy-winning producer Kevin Tuffy (Kelly Rowland, Chaka Khan) and renowned producer Reef (50 Cent, Fat Joe), further cementing her growing reputation.
