News: Lightning Bolt Announce European Tour, Album Reissues

Legendary Providence noise rock duo Lightning Bolt are preparing to tour European festivals this summer and are reissuing their first four albums on Thrill Jockey. European audiences are in for a treat at the band’s shows, which they famously perform in the round and at a deafeningly, sometimes borderline illegally, high decibel level. Lightning Bolt’s recent show at the Camden Underworld was one of last year’s highlights of the London noise rock scene and the loudest your humble correspondent has ever attended, so be sure to take earplugs if you see them this summer. The albums they’re reissuing are ‘Lightning Bolt’ (1999), ‘Ride the Skies’ (2001), ‘Wonderful Rainbow’ (2003), and ‘Hypermagic Mountain’ (2005). For a flavour of what to expect from the band, check out the clip of them playing ’13 Monsters’ from ‘Ride the Skies’ below.

Lightning Bolt’s 2020 European summer tour dates are as follows.

May 28th – Aaniwalli, Helsinki.
May 29th – Gather Weekender, Stockholm.
May 30th – ALICE, Copenhagen.
June 1st – Moers Festival, Moers, Germany.
June 2nd – P8, Karlsruhe, Germany.
June 3rd – Bogen F, Zurich.
June 4th – Grrrnd Zero, Lyon.
June 5th – Primavera Sound Festival, Barcelona.

‘Lightning Bolt’, ‘Ride the Skies’, and ‘Wonderful Rainbow’ are available to order from Thrill Jockey now. ‘Hypermagic Mountain’ is due out on March 20th and is available to pre-order.
