Vivid Sydney has always had its neon-lit spine, but in 2026, Carriageworks becomes its beating industrial heart. Across three weekends, the cavernous precinct transforms into a collision point for hip hop royalty, electronic innovators, First Nations voices and boundary-pushing performance, assembling a line-up that reads like a cross-section of global nightlife itself.

The return of Lil’ Kim after more than 15 years lands with the weight of history, a rare chance to witness a figure who rewired hip hop’s DNA in real time. On a different frequency but no less commanding, Ella Mai brings her velvet precision to Sydney, joined by KAIIT, whose presence feels less like support and more like a co-headline moment in waiting.

Electronic music takes on multiple forms across the program. Alison Wonderland reclaims her warehouse roots with a full-scale immersive takeover, while Porter Robinson returns for his first Australian DJ set in over a decade, joined by Golden Features. Meanwhile, Skin On Skin curates the debut Australian edition of FOR YOUR SAFE KEEPING, bringing with him Loukeman, EQ, and Scalymoth for a night that promises friction, release and everything in between.

On 7 June, Teletech arrives like a pressure drop, with Italian duo 999999999 leading a line-up that includes Cara Elizabeth, DJ Cringey, Natte Visstick and Onlynumbers, delivering uncompromising techno inside the venue’s raw steel bones. Elsewhere, The Black Angels mark 20 years of Passover with a full-album performance that leans into hypnotic repetition and shadowy psychedelia.

Beyond the headline names, the program stretches wider. The Awesome Black Block Party returns as a free, all-ages celebration of First Nations creativity, while the Warakirri Dining Experience, led by Sharon Winsor, folds storytelling into a multi-course exploration of native Australian ingredients. Contemporary dance outfit Chunky Move, alongside Gabber Modus Operandi, bring U>N>I>T>E>D, a collision of movement, machine and sound that feels engineered for the scale of the space.
