Melbourne-based songwriter Indyana shares the introspective and ethereal new single ‘Je Fais Mon Univers’. The fourth and final single from her forthcoming debut album, the navy baby, the track showcases a beautiful blend of emotive of indie-folk and chilled electronica.

In recent months, Indyana has caught the attention of tastemakers with her intricate lyricism and spellbinding soundscapes, building a growing reputation for evocative songwriting. ‘Je Fais Mon Univers’ offers a deeply emotional and empowering vocal performance, blending beautifully layered soundscape with a slow, steady melody.

Opening with a delicately strummed guitar and Indyana’s emotive vocals, the track starts with an understated sense of fragility and intimacy. Gradually adding subtle synths and muted lo-fi beats before reaching a stunning, cinematic climax as violin tops layers of dreamy electronics with the continued strummed electric guitar.

The song itself was written to try and combat Indyana’s inner turmoil regarding her journey with self-love, including poignant lines such as: “If we are made of stars / Why do we look in miroirs?”

Indyana shares: “from a very young age, ideologies relating to body image have been thrust upon me (and upon us all) so frequently that my own feelings of self-worth have been crushed time and time again. When I started writing this song at 20 years of age, I knew it would be the beginning of a long, difficult process of reframing these negative, and forcibly planted, habit patterns of my mind. Now, at 24 years of age, I recognise that this song has taught me a lot, even if I haven’t yet fully arrived at my destination of self-love. I hope its listeners will feel equally nurtured by its teachings; that they let it serve as a reminder of how beautiful and wondrous they truly are.”
