News: Multidisciplinary Artist Salwa Unveils Electrifying Music Video for ‘Ghost You’

Lebanese/Palestinian-Scottish artist Salwa, a dynamic creative force in acting, filmmaking, modelling, and songwriting, has released the visually striking music video for her latest single, ‘Ghost You’. Blending electro-pop with space disco, the track is a bold exploration of nightlife, relationships, and reclaiming agency through raw and whimsical storytelling.

Raised in Beirut and now based in East London, Salwa (also known as Lana MacIver) draws on her eclectic background to create a distinctive artistic voice. Trained at the Drama Centre London, she has carved out a multidisciplinary career spanning global modelling campaigns and avant-garde filmmaking. However, music remains her truest passion. Salwa’s genre-defying sound merges Electro-Pop, Disco, Prog Rock, and Jazz, reflecting her personal experiences as a bipolar woman navigating life in a bustling city.

The Ghost You music video, directed by Ted Clarke, captures the duality of nightlife—its shimmering allure and the darker realities that often follow. Drawing inspiration from 80s gym auditoriums and live performance aesthetics, the visuals create a sense of “nightmare nostalgia” with a mix of dreamy Super 8 textures and unsettling undertones. Salwa’s vision presents a cinematic, ironic take on the glitz and chaos of urban nightlife.

Explaining the song’s origins, Salwa shares, “The idea came from a WhatsApp conversation where I thought, ‘Sometimes I just really want to ghost you.’ It became a track about unwanted attention in city nightlife and reclaiming power. I wanted this to be an unapologetic anthem—a loud, defiant fuck off to men who don’t know when to stop. It’s for every woman who’s ever felt that frustration.”

Musically, ‘Ghost You’ takes cues from formative inspirations like Justice’s D.A.N.C.E and Caravan Palace’s Mighty, incorporating a choir of fierce, vibrant women as the driving force behind the track’s pulsating rhythm. This bold, collaborative energy amplifies the song’s message of empowerment.

Salwa’s artistry pushes boundaries, seamlessly integrating music, fashion, and film into cohesive narratives that resonate with the complexities of modern life. Her work transforms vulnerability into defiance, offering an ironic yet empowering perspective on identity, mental health, and societal norms. The ‘Ghost You’ music video is a testament to Salwa’s ability to turn introspection into bold artistic statements.
