News: Plasma Chasms Release Psychedelic Debut Album ‘Chrysalis’

Indie-psychedelic duo Plasma Chasms has unleashed their much-anticipated debut album, Chrysalis, a 13-track odyssey that takes listeners on an interstellar journey through the emotional landscapes of love, connection, and the human experience. Combining the indie spirit of Australia with the laid-back, sun-soaked vibes of Southern California, Plasma Chasms have crafted an album that feels both timeless and futuristic, seamlessly blending vintage psychedelia with modern digital elements.

The album’s lead single, ‘Already Waiting,’ encapsulates one of the core themes of Chrysalis—the tension between vulnerability and longing. In this track, the duo explores the universal experience of unrequited love and the paralyzing fear of expressing deep emotions. It’s a relatable portrayal of hesitation and the inner conflict that arises when love makes us uncertain about taking risks. The song’s ethereal layers and wistful vocals pull listeners into that moment of suspended reality, where dreams of connection meet the rawness of human emotion.

Chrysalis itself is more than just an album; it’s a concept-driven sonic journey. Listeners are guided through a cosmic voyage by what the duo describes as an “intergalactic space elevator,” touching on themes of love, loss, self-discovery, and growth. As the name suggests, Chrysalis represents a transitional phase—an in-between state where old forms melt away, and something new is being born. The metaphor of the chrysalis, the transformative stage between caterpillar and butterfly, serves as the perfect encapsulation of the album’s theme: life’s inevitable moments of change, retreat, and self-reflection before breaking into something beautifully new.

The album’s sound is lush and expansive, weaving together dreamlike soundscapes, swirling psychedelic textures, and vibrant indie-pop melodies. Tracks like ‘Empty Spaces’ and ‘Echoes’ exemplify Plasma Chasms’ ability to build sonic landscapes that feel vast yet intimate, evoking a sense of floating through space while grounded in human emotion. Their music has a cinematic quality, making each song feel like a chapter in a larger, interconnected story.

What makes Chrysalis stand out is its ability to push genre boundaries. The duo taps into the retro warmth of ’60s and ’70s psychedelia while infusing it with the crisp, experimental edge of today’s digital production. It’s a sound that pays homage to the past while charting a course toward the future of indie music, pushing the boundaries of what indie-psychedelic music can be.

Formed in 2020, Plasma Chasms have quickly proven themselves to be innovators in their field. Their earlier singles, ‘Echoes’ and ‘Empty Spaces,’ marked the duo as rising stars in the indie scene, leading to their debut EP in 2022. With Chrysalis, they’ve solidified their sound and carved out a unique space in the genre, offering an album that is both conceptually rich and sonically immersive.

Chrysalis is a testament to the transformative power of music and the courage it takes to embrace change. Plasma Chasms invites listeners to explore life’s in-between moments with open hearts and minds, making this debut album a remarkable, introspective journey. Whether you’re looking to lose yourself in cosmic soundscapes or reflect on your own personal metamorphosis, Chrysalis offers a deeply rewarding listen from start to finish.
