Wigan’s fast-rising indie-rock outfit Montello continue their rapid ascent with the release of their infectious new single, ‘Suit & Tie’ – a track that captures both the urgency of youth and the quiet defiance of artists refusing to give up on their dreams.

Formed in late 2023, the quartet have wasted no time establishing themselves as one of the UK’s most exciting emerging acts. In just over a year and a half together, Montello have built remarkable momentum, landing slots at major festivals including The Great Escape, Isle of Wight Festival, Tramlines, and Sound City across summer 2025, an achievement that signals both ambition and undeniable appeal.

Their latest release sees the band teaming up with producer Luke Owens, resulting in a single that balances immediacy with polish. ‘Suit & Tie’ channels the fluorescent energy of Montello’s live performances while revealing a growing maturity in their songwriting. Built on jangling guitar lines, tight, driving drums, and a steady, grounding bassline, the track delivers an accessible indie sheen, tinged with nostalgic undertones.

Speaking about the single, the band say:
“Suit & Tie is a song dedicated to the struggle of creative minds around the world. Since starting this band we’ve seen the peaks and troughs of the music industry, and we all share a burning desire to keep Montello moving forward — none of us want to quit our passion despite the amount of artists and venues struggling in the current climate. None of us want to sit behind a desk instead of doing what we really love, none of us want to die in a suit and a tie.”

That message of resistance and resilience sits at the heart of the band’s identity, a theme that resonates strongly as the wider music landscape continues to shift beneath emerging artists’ feet.

April 2025 marked another key milestone with the release of Montello’s debut EP, a project that helped solidify their growing reputation. Since then, the band have taken their sound across the UK, earning radio support from Radio X and selling out shows at notable venues including Manchester’s Deaf Institute.

With ‘Suit & Tie’, Montello build on that momentum, delivering a track that feels both immediate and purposeful. It’s a statement of intent from a band who are defining their place within the modern indie scene.
