News: Riverside Music TV Unveil Session With Glasgow Hip-Hop Up & Comer ‘BEMZ’

Following a standout 2024 that highlighted talents like Callum Beattie, Rhianne Downey, Kyle Falconer, and ILI, Riverside Music TV has returned with its latest feature, this time showcasing the extraordinary artistry of hip-hop artist BEMZ. In collaboration with rising star Jasper Hodges, BEMZ delivers compelling in-session performances of his tracks ‘DND’ and ‘Zidane’, blending raw passion with introspective storytelling.

BEMZ’s journey is as captivating as his music. Born in Nigeria and raised in London, he moved to Scotland as a teenager, landing in the small town of Stranraer. It was here that his artistic voice began to take shape. Balancing his education with a growing passion for music, he studied Sound Production before making the move to Glasgow, where his career truly began to flourish. His 2020 debut album, Saint of Lost Causes, garnered critical acclaim and earned a nomination for Scottish Album of the Year, cementing him as a rising force in the music scene.

In his latest feature on RMTV, BEMZ reflects on his sense of identity and his connection to Scotland. “A lot of people would look at me and not call me a Scottish rapper because I don’t have an accent, I wasn’t born here, I don’t look Scottish. Despite this, I’m still representing Stranraer because that’s where I started my journey—that’s who I am.” His pride in his roots and openness about his experiences are evident throughout the session, where he combines artistry with heartfelt authenticity.

BEMZ’s impact extends beyond his music. His creative versatility has led to collaborations with The Snuts, performances alongside industry icons like Grandmaster Flash and Example, and a well-received debut at TRNSMT Festival in 2024. He has also contributed to Scotland’s music scene as the founder of M4 Festival, a one-day event celebrating a diverse range of genres, including hip-hop, grime, R&B, and afrobeat.

Riverside Music TV continues to serve as a vital platform for artists like BEMZ. Based in Glasgow and operating as a subsidiary of Riverside Studios, RMTV combines cutting-edge production facilities with a mission to highlight both established and emerging talent. The channel offers exclusive artist sessions, behind-the-scenes content, and interviews, fostering deeper connections between fans and the music they love.
