News: Ryan Oakes announces long-awaited Australian debut tour

There’s a certain restlessness running through the rise of Ryan Oakes, and this June it finally lands on Australian stages. The Virginia-born, Los Angeles-raised rapper, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter will bring his first full national run to the country, delivering live performances that reflect a catalogue built on the collision of hip-hop urgency and alternative rock momentum.

For Oakes, the tour represents both introduction and recognition. Australian audiences have been among his most consistent supporters throughout his independent climb, helping drive streaming numbers past 47 million and creating a grassroots following that has developed largely through online communities and word-of-mouth discovery. The upcoming shows will mark the first time he performs much of this material locally, transforming digital engagement into direct connection.

Oakes’ music sits comfortably between genres without settling into any single lane. His work blends rapid-fire rap delivery with guitar-driven textures and pop-punk energy, drawing on influences that echo through collaborations with artists including MOD SUN, State Champs and Hollywood Undead. The partnerships have reinforced his reputation as a versatile collaborator while maintaining a distinct creative identity shaped by his independent and DIY approach.

That trajectory continued with the release of OPUS in 2025. The album expands Oakes’ sonic palette while retaining the direct emotional tone that defines his songwriting. Across its tracklist, OPUS leans into ambition and experimentation without losing the personal focus that anchors his work, positioning the record as a transitional moment rather than a conclusion.

The Australian shows will carry that ethos into the live setting. Oakes has framed the tour as an opportunity to prioritise fan interaction as much as performance, promising free meet-and-greets at every stop and extending the connection beyond the stage.
