Saint Saviour, the alt-pop solo act from singer-songwriter Becky Jones, has collaborated with British indie duo Jadu Heart on the new single ‘I Just Can’t Take The Risk’. The track is taken from her highly anticipated upcoming album, ‘Sunseeker’, out 22 March 2024 via VLF, which is available to pre-order here and pre-save here.

“If I’m judging the songs on how successfully they represent my musical reference point, this is the best of the bunch. I love this song and the sound of the record.” Becky said about the track. “Lyrically it is also an honest and literal self analysis which I don’t usually do and so it feels refreshing to me in terms of my writing practice. It’s about being an Introvert. The A section is me being honest about how I feel and the B section is me freaking out. “I really want to reach for you, but I fear you coming closer”. It just says it exactly how it is. I love people, I am curious about them, but I’m also antisocial and sullen quite a lot of the time.”

A wistful baroque-pop track that features Saint Saviour’s angelic vocal stylings atop brassy motifs, Jadu Heart joins in on the spiralling duet as the track builds and builds. Becky’s first collaboration with the duo, she said “I have been friends with and fans of Jadu Heart for years, they made a music video for my last album and this time around I was happy to finally get them singing on a tune – they hand-picked the demo of this one from the bunch and wove in some new words and vocal melodies which I just love.”

On her fourth album Sunseeker, Saint Saviour offers joy and encouragement in a fight back against cynicism, shifting away from the downbeat sound of 2012’s Union and 2014’s In The Seams in a search towards warmth that started with her previous album, Tomorrow Again. While existentialism had been the bedrock of her previous songwriting efforts, on Sunseeker, she allows a variety of new thought processes to creep in, as she reckons with new questions concerning religion, spirituality, and the long shadow her mother’s death has cast.

Along with these themes, Becky looks to share messages with her children through her music. On already released tracks like “Be Gentle”, “Poetry” and “Better Than”, she looks to pass down the self-esteem and sufficiency needed to be a good feminist to her daughter, aiming to embolden rather than overperform or preach.

Pre-order the album here and pre-save here.
