News: Singer-Songwriter Sone Shares New Single ‘Happy’

Fresh from the release of her debut single ‘Here to Stay’, American, now Germany based singer-songwriter Sone returns with the emotive new single in her new single, ‘Happy’. Her mesmerizing songwriting, enthralling production, and alluring vocal delivery drive this alt-indie offering, making it a standout track.

Sone has always loved performing, being on stage, and most importantly, interacting with the audience. Her deep passion for music and singing from a very young age led her to pursue opera singing in Germany. She completed her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, earning a bachelor’s degree. While living in Germany, Sone seized every opportunity to develop as an artist, dabbling in modeling and experimenting with various singing and musical styles. She played briefly in a band while studying opera, which broadened her skill set in songwriting and lyrics. Co-writing songs across genres such as pop, jazz, funk, rock, and alternative, Sone eventually realized that, although she deeply respects and loves opera, songwriting has always been her greatest passion. She is capable of writing accessible yet relatable songs that are intimate and genuine.

With the release of her much-awaited single ‘Happy’, Sone channels her creative energy into compositions that are more sensitive, honest, and vulnerable. The single showcases Sone’s raw, yet commercially bright and accessible vocals over a buoyant, theatrical alternative pop soundscape comparable to Marina and The Diamonds.

She wrote the lyrics and melody of ‘Happy’ in a stream of thought while out on a stroll. Although she felt strange when writing it, being creative brought her closer to true happiness.

‘Happy’ proved to be a crucial turning point in Sone’s understanding of her struggles. The song reflects a significant moment in her life when she ended a serious relationship and attempted to redefine genuine happiness. She grappled with the overwhelming sensation of not knowing how to be happy, what she could do for herself, and whether her feelings were real—emotions that many people can relate to.

Sone realized that letting her guard down and ceasing to have high expectations of herself was the only way she could truly be happy. On the release, she says, “‘Happy’ is about not standing in your own way—and letting yourself let go and be… happy.”
