The Foo Fighters have released a statement confirming the death of Taylor Hawkins who was 50 years old.
A post on the band’s Instagram page has asked for respect for Hawkins’s family at this time.
The Foo Fighters are currently on tour in South America. Hawkins’s body was found in a hotel room in Bogota, Columbia where the band were due to play at a music festival.
The Foo Fighters recently played a one-off concert in Geelong to a packed stadium of 30 000 people and were due to return for a more extensive tour of Australia in December.
Hawkins will also be remembered for his work with Alanis Morrisette and others, prior to joining the Foo Fighters. He is survived by his wife and three children.
No cause of death has been given at this time.
