NEWS: The Goon Sax Announce New Album ‘We’re Not Talking’

Mark Bowen and Dick Green’s Wichita Recordings Label (Bloc Party/First Aid Kit/Ride) have fresh new signings in Australian IndiePop Rockers The Goon Sax.  The album will launch worldwide on September 14th and this summer also sees the band out on tour supporting Frankie Cosmos across Europe in May, including a date at Gorilla in Manchester on 28 May. The band will also be touring their own headline shows starting out at London’s Sebright Arms on 29 May, before heading off for their first US tour in June.

Promo video for lead single “She Knows” taken from the new album is a fuzzy, punky pop gem. Jagged guitars underlay a sardonic nearly spoken vocal caught somewhere between Costello and Cocker, Jarvis not Joe. With a pulsating, frenetic,  upbeat and driven rhythm track from drummer  Riley Jones, witty and engaging lyrics from James Harrison and Louis Forster.

The band say that “She Knows is a song about losing hope, stubbornness and heartache”. Unsure if its their saddest song to date the band they recommend avoiding locking yourself in a room and listening to it on repeat for days, alone, as it might make you a bit sad”. However after hearing this track and others form the new album ‘We’re Not Talking’, I think if you did lock yourself in a room and listen to the LP over and over again you’d have a very good time and potentially pogo through the floor, or ceiling, which makes the potential for surprise,  not only yourselves,  but the neighbours too. Expose your community to The Goon Sax now! Pre-Order HERE.

European tour dates:

Tue 22 May – Kantine am Berghain, Berlin (w/Frankie Cosmos)

Wed 23 May – Aalhaus, Hamburg (w/Frankie Cosmos)

Thu 24 May – DOKbox, Gent (w/Frankie Cosmos)

Sat 26 May – Petit Bain, Paris (w/Frankie Cosmos)

Mon 28 May – Gorilla, Manchester (w/Frankie Cosmos)

Tue 29 May – Sebright Arms, London (headline show)
