News: They’re back! The Brian Jonestown Massacre announce Australian/New Zealand tour in late 2023

In breaking news, Australia and New Zealand will receive the beneficence of a tour from the legendary Brian Jonestown Massacre. Psych jingle jangle legends and a firm favourite here at Backseat Mafia, this will be the first antipodean tour for decades.

Recent activity has seen the band release two highly lauded albums in the last 12 months: 2022’s ‘Fire Doesn’t Grow On Trees’ and 2023’s ‘The Future Is Your Past’. And the result is concentrated goodness, recalling some of Newton’s best material from over the decades. With less experimental sonic excursions and more jangling purity and melody, the recent albums are a stupendous collection of psych-tinged jingle jangle indie goodness and the best from the band in years.

With only one show in Auckland, the band is comprehensively covering Australia, even making it to Hobart. Dates are as follows:

Thurs 9 November – Powerhouse (Auckland)

Sat 11 Nov – Odeon Theatre (Hobart)
Mon 13 Nov – Astor Theatre (Perth)
Wed 15 Nov – The Gov (Adelaide)
Thu 16 Nov – Enmore Theatre (Sydney)
Fri 17 Nov – The Northern (Byron Bay)
Sat 18 Nov – The Princess Theatre (Brisbane)
Sun 19 Nov – Kambri ANU (Canberra)
Tue 21 Nov – Forum Melbourne
Wed 22 Nov – Theatre Royal (Castlemaine)
Fri 24 Nov – UOW Unibar (Wollongong)
