News: UK indie pop legends The Primitives set to hit Australia for a national tour in February 2025!

UK indie pop legends The Primitives are set to embark on a national tour of Australia in early 2025. This tour follows the recent celebration of the 35th anniversary of their iconic debut album, ‘Lovely,’ as well as a standout performance at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

The Primitives emerged from the mid-1980s UK indie scene with a sound that effortlessly fused The Byrds’ jangly guitars, The Ramones’ raw energy, and 60s girl group melodies into tight, punchy pop songs. Their debut album ‘Lovely’ became a defining moment for the band, with the international success of the single ‘Crash’ pushing them beyond the indie charts and into the mainstream.

By the early 90s, after three albums and extensive tours across Europe and the US, The Primitives stepped away from the spotlight. They reunited in 2009 following the passing of their original bassist, Steve Dullaghan, and the response to their reunion show was a clear signal: their music still mattered. More tours followed, as well as new material that was both nostalgic and fresh.

In the years since, The Primitives have been quietly active, releasing new music, including their 2014 album ‘Spin-O-Rama,’ which felt like a lost sequel to ‘Lovely.’ Their most recent release, the 2023 single ‘I Won’t Care,’ shows they still know how to craft sharp, memorable pop songs that hit with the same immediacy as their early hits.

Since reforming The Primitives have toured the UK multiple times, including a performance at Glastonbury in 2024, and have performed all around Europe and paid several visits to the US and Japan.

The current line-up of the band includes original members Tracy Tracy (vocals), Paul Court (guitar/vocals) and Tig Williams (drums).
