WITCH – short for We Intend To Cause Havoc – return to Australia this November, following their acclaimed 2024 tour and the release of their new album Sogolo.

After the unexpected success of 2023’s Zango, their first album in almost four decades, the Zamrock pioneers have kept the momentum going. Sogolo, released in 2025, is a bold continuation of their distinctive mix of psychedelic rock, funk, blues and Zambian rhythms.

Formed in the early 1970s, WITCH became central to the Zamrock movement, releasing seven albums before the AIDS epidemic devastated the Zambian music community, leaving Jagari Chanda as the only surviving founding member. With keyboardist Patrick Mwondela, he revived the band after a 2012 reissue sparked global interest, leading to a documentary, sold-out tours and new recordings.

The group’s music – once likened to a collision between James Brown and Black Sabbath in Lusaka – remains a striking blend of fuzzed-out guitars, restless grooves and a commitment to capturing Zambia’s musical spirit. This November, Australian audiences will see WITCH bring their latest chapter to life on stage.
