Out today is the new single by New York based singer-songwriter Amira B, Away, and we’re delighted to premiere it here on Backseat Mafia.
Although initially classically trained after moving from Volgograd In Russia to New York, Amira gradually gravitated more to the Soul, Pop, R&B world and that’s where we see her with Away. Blurry synths herald her soft, emotive vocal, and while the bass pops and adds some funk to proceedings, Amira lays down a hazy, blissed out, funk-filled slice of glittering pop.
Of the track, Amira told us exclusively, “I couldn’t think of a better time to release my song called Away. As we all struggle to find solace in these crazy times, music has been a huge factor in keeping me sane and I hope people find some type of peace in listening to Away. I wrote away for the escapists, those who want to run away from their problems, whatever they may be. Even though Away is a song about escaping reality, there is a feeling of hope that things will get better. “Let’s get out, out of town, never let them get you down…” Who are “they” in your lives you’re trying to escape from, and what are you exactly running away from?”
