Founded by Markus Siegenhort (Lantlos) and Christian Kolf (Valborg) with drummer Patrick Schroeder in 2017, and abandoning their early grindcore style in favour of the garage/alt-rock they sit within now, Asses are gearing up to the Release of their debut EP ‘Feelings of a boy’, out via Wolves And Vibrancy Records on September 25th. From it we’re delighted to premiere one of the tracks from the EP, Strange Habits.
Of the track, Christian from the band explains It’s about being ”In love with an ugly girl. Total loss of self esteem. Inability to say anything. No role models to guide you. Almost urgent suicide for nothing. Teenage loser power. ”
Opening with these echoey, persuasive guitar lines, a stuttering shuffle on the drums and these downtrodden, effect laden vocals. As it unfurls though, so they become more impassioned and brawny, accompanied by roaring, muscular guitars as it plays out, full of visceral but undeniably catchy melodies.
