Essentially the bedroom project of Daniel Host, Dadbod have revealed their/his new single True Grit – and we’re delighted to premiere it right here on Backseat Mafia today.
Sitting somewhere between The Beach Boys and Chris Rea, with a dose of Lloyd Cole thrown in for good measure as well as good slice of himself, True Grit has just enough Yacht Rock in there to please anyone’s deck shoes, the gruff half spoken lyrics somehow adding to the beauty of the track, all swooning guitar lines and breezy shuffles. The deck is cleared (yeah, sorry I couldn’t resist) for this crackling guitar solos, which if the track hadn’t already hooked you in, seals the deal.
