Ahead of the release of Dominic Waxing Lyrical’s new album ‘Rural Tonic’, which drops on 21st April via Tenement Records, we’re delighted to premiere the new video for his new single ‘Sunsan Sontag’. The Edinburgh based poet, otherwise known as Dominic Harris and his ever changing line up of collaborators this time features both his regular band (whose backbone remains Edinburgh band Aberfeldy) and idiosyncratic chamber group ‘Mr. McFall’s Chamber’ (featuring members of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra).

Susan Sontag is this slice of weary sounding folk infused indie pop. Violins sigh, glockespeils ring and guitars pick their earthy way through the tune as Dominic laments love and lost love with this aching melody that serves up as much melancholy as it does beauty, with his fragile baritone reminiscent of Gene. It’s a lovely thing to curl up and get all misty eyed to. The video features a monologue on art before we see art and image as part of the creative process.

In addition Dominic Waxing Lyrical has announced some UK dates, including April tour with Lone Pigeon and Bell Lungs, and a couple of Scottish dates in March with support from ILK. The dates are:
