Boorloo/Perth-based and Meanjin/Brisbane-raised singer-songwriter Lucinda Poy is set to captivate audiences with her debut single, ‘Just Fine‘, premiering exclusively at Backseat Mafia today ahead of its official release tomorrow, Friday, February 9th. The single is a joyous indie-rock anthem that reflects on overcoming disappointments and pushing through adversity to emerge stronger.

The single boasts an infectious blend of happy indie-rock vibes, featuring Poy’s beautiful and powerful vocals that seamlessly intertwine with the soft rock melodies. ‘Just Fine’ is an easy-to-listen-to, super catchy track with relatable lyrics that feel genuine and carefree, perfectly capturing Lucinda Poy’s vibrant personality. As she takes further steps into the music industry, it’s exciting to anticipate the growth and evolution of this promising artist.

Lucinda Poy shares her thoughts on the meaning behind ‘Just Fine’ saying, “‘Just Fine’ is about piecing yourself together after facing challenges. People I’ve depended on have left without warning, built up my hopes too high… and I was crushed, so I had great material to work with! I wanted to reassure the listener that it would all be okay, that the facade of being ‘Just Fine’ would eventually turn true.“

Continuing her journey at the renowned Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Poy has immersed herself in the intricacies of the Advanced Music Artist course. Her dedication to the craft began early, and in high school, she extended her passion beyond the classroom by embarking on tours through Queensland and New Zealand to advocate for musical opportunities among fellow students. The culmination of her talents came to fruition in 2022 when Poy earned the prestigious Best Original Song award at the Wynnum Fringe Festival. She has further showcased her skills in the pre-game entertainment at Meanjin/Brisbane’s iconic Gabba stadium.

Transitioning seamlessly into Boorloo/Perth’s vibrant music scene, Poy has cultivated a new community, gracing stages across the city and making a memorable appearance on Channel 7’s Telethon. To celebrate the release of ‘Just Fine,’ she will be hosting a single launch on Sunday, February 25, at Boorloo/Perth’s Indie Bar. An event that promises not only fantastic music but also a glimpse into the promising future of this talented artist.
