Cornwall born singer-songwriter Lily Ward has returned with a new single, Kalopsia, and we’re delighted to be able to premiere it right here on Backseat Mafia today.
Of the track, Lily told us “The definition of kalopsia is a delusion that something is more beautiful than it actually is. It’s like when you’re in a moment where everything seems too good to be true. I told myself that I would never do distance, so when I met someone from America I was surprised that I was open to the idea. However I was hoping and praying while we were talking that it wasn’t just a bad case of Kalopsia. That’s what this song is about.”
The song is this electronic hued love song, these simple piano lines sprayed with electro sounds and minimal beats. Best of all is Lily’s warm vocal line, that wraps itself around you like a comfort blanket. It’s beautifully understated stuff.
