Out today (16th March) is the new track from Paola House, titled ‘Searching For You’, via Fed By Music. It’s the second release from a five-song EP released over the forthcoming months, and we’re delighted to be able to premiere it on Backseat Mafia today.

Of the track, Paola House says: “The writing of the song started in a very different place. Initially sounding much more like a traditional singer songwriter ballad. But after a few musical exchanges with my producer Pip Sullivan, it sonically took on a different shade of grey. So in response to that, the narrative structure changed into something deeper than I ever intended to reveal.”

There’s an emotional intensity that hangs over ‘Searching For You’, which sits somewhere between dark pop and indie rock. Drums drive and organ stabs underneath these piano and guitar lines as Paola House’s vocal sits softly, beautifully over the top, his baritone almost cracking at the emotion of it sometimes, despite trying to remain aloof.

Beautiful, affecting stuff. Check it out, here.
