Montreal three piece Braids return with a new EP – Companion , written during the sessions for their standout debut LP, Deep in the Iris. Out on May 20th via Arbutus Records, the band have released a new video for the title track, which features singer Raphaelle Standell-Preston performing the song, with a double.
The track has shades of the Bjork about it, this slightly awkward accordion sound dominating the accomapaniments as it shifts uneasily underneath Standell-Preston’s rather beautiful delivery. As the track gradually unfurls, so a piano takes over the backing, bringing a sense of peace to proceedings.
