Taken from her forthcoming debut album Skyline, due out on Jalapeno Records early next year, Reckoning is the debut single from London based soul singer Izo FitzRoy. She’s certainly earned her stripes though, touring her gospel choir and working with the Grammy award winning Jon Cleary & the Absolute Monster Gentlemen in New Orleans before penning her debut album whilst living there.
There’s plenty of funk in Reckoning, as it lays down this almost musty, stripped back blues. Over the top of it FitzRoy’s vocal cracks and slithers between the gaps with this authentic gospel soul. It aches with emotions and smoulders with soul.
