The new wave of British Soul music might just be upon us, and it comes in the shape of singer, cellist and producer Izzi Dunn. She’s about to release her new album, Recycle Love, and from it she’s just released a video for the track Belong.
Belong starts with Dunn’s Cello weaving in and out of her vocal, with is at once contemplative and melancholy. As it gently unfurls, so this quivering bassline and electronic cascades are added, and there’s a fragility to it that the swaying speed adds to. Izzi Dunn’s voice is the real star of the piece though, immediate and almost intimate, it oozes cool, and delivers the crushingly beautiful song with some style.
