Synth-pop duo Prides have just announced details of their next “body of work”, titled A Mind Like The Tide, due to be released later this year. The project is split into two parts, representing the “different sides of Prides in eb and flow”, and the release begins with new single ‘Let’s Stay In Bed All Day’.

The proposed artwork for A Mind Like The Tide: Part One brings its own imagery; lead singer Stewart Brock appears to be censoring himself with his own band’s logo, representing how Prides have pulled back from the limelight. “We’ve been hiding, we’ve been hidden,” Stewart explains, “retreating back into our cave”.

The boys have been writing, telling stories, and trying different sounds, but it’s time for them to return and share those stories with the world: “Every story of mine is a story of yours.”

‘Let’s Stay In Bed All Day’ is the first tale to be heard from their time away, bringing back those energetic party beats and powerful vocals as Stewart shouts his way through the chorus. If you were lucky enough to see Prides last October, you would’ve caught a glimpse of this new track along with a brief explanation behind its lyrics: “It’s about having sex… all the time.”

The accompanying music video is a literal representation of its title; Stewart and his girl spend all day in bed sleeping, eating pizza and playing videogames. Not a bad way to spend your time, especially when it’s in good company. It makes you wonder where Callum Wiseman, Prides’ other half, is in all this. Maybe we’ll see more of him in Part Two?

Preorder the new EPs on limited edition coloured vinyl, alongside exclusive merch including pin badges, t-shirts, and a custom painted leather jacket. You can even bid for Prides to remix/produce your track for a cool £500 (if you’re an unsigned artist), or attend an intimate show in London at the end of November.

Amongst the new merchandise in celebration of the new release you’ll find a piano score for ‘The Kite String And The Anchor Rope’, one of the bonus tracks from their debut album and one of Prides’ oldest songs. It suggests that the boys haven’t completely let go of the past, keeping themselves anchored through the waves of recent years and biding their time until it’s safe to return to shore.
