Out right about now (well, let’s say an hour ago) the new music video from Sam Smith has dropped, and is available to stream and buy worldwide. It’s the first record to feature the legendary production skills of Timbaland, and the result is this laid back, emotion packed soul stirrer, the stripped back at its outset limited to dribbles of percussion and this gospel piano. Added to it is American rapper Logic, who brings his rhymes and rhythm to the verses. As it begins to flower, so a Gospel Choir and strings ramp up the sentiment.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the song, Sam explains “We are all looking around at what’s happening in the world and it is just messed. You’ve got no choice but to look up to the sky and put your hands together and pray for something to happen, because I feel helpless as a human right now.”
