Since crawling out of the dark, fetid squalor of a disused fish market, the aptly named, Sewer Rats have been whisked down South and spent the past few months tearing London’s live circuit apart at the seams. Snapped up by Fluffer Records -who picked them as the perfect band to follow up their Love Buzzard release – current EP ‘ Money Maker’ is a heady mix of full speed ahead thrashed out fuzz and kaleidoscopic psych trips that showcases the bands cross genre busting skills to the full.
The video to title track, ‘Money Maker’, goes a long way to capture the raw energy of the bands live set (-keep your eyes out for some random drum head butting at around 2.15 in) which, as the band put it, is “Loads of Fuzz and tons of Wah!”
Fluffer Records are boasting that Sewer Rats “are the future of British rock n’ roll”. It’s a bold statement, but on the evidence so far , it is a statement with substance.
