New York City post-punk quartet WIVES have announced that their debut album, ‘So Removed’, will be released via City Slang on October 4th. The album will feature 11 songs, including singles ‘Waving Past Nirvana’, ‘Workin”, and ‘The 20 Teens’. The band feature Andrew Bailey from DIIV, cite Sonic Youth and The Fall as influences, and have recently performed at the UK’s Great Escape and Test Pressing festivals.
The style of WIVES’ video for their latest single, ‘The 20 Teens’, which concerns a stoned person looking down on contemporary society from outer space, is interesting. It features animations by Robbie Pfeffer super-imposed upon (ironically given the present-day subject matter) clips from 1960s home movies.
